Bumble just had to be in the photo.
Sherri Art Studio , Bell Buckle, TN   July 24 – 26, 2009

What an opportunity to have my concrete carving workshop included as part of Sherri Warner Hunter's Concrete Camp. Creative junkies of mosaics and concrete that take this five day intensive studio frolic will walk away enriched with honed skills and up to speed on the latest tools, materials and techniques. Notice the variety of integral colors in the planters. Sherri has come across these "super colors" that have strength of hue and like other masonary tints fade very little. Contact her website www.sherriwarnerhunter.com for more information.

The green mess to the right is my planter. I had a bucket of old White Portland cement, also known as Federal Cement, and I added green, Chromium oxide, tint to the mix. It had enough of the chemical reaction to barely hold together and the next day it was still soft and breaking where I touched it. It looked so cool after I tossed it in the wheelbarrow that I just had to include this photo. Everyone felt sorry for me because my pretty planter broke but it was no big deal because I have made many and will be making many more planters.
Nimi Workshop, Mukwanago, WI   September 11 – 13, 2009

The concrete slab in the background is now a functional studio and the site of another workshop in 2010.
