Workshops

Three day wet carved concrete workshop at the studio of Sherri Warner Hunter. The workshop in late May of 2008 was a fun time as usual. Future workshops from me, and others, will certainly be scheduled. For further information contact Sherri Warner Hunter.

Lately I have been approached about doing workshops in Santa Fe and Taos, NM and Portland OR. Most likely this would be set up for the summer of '08. The only way I could do this is if there were a number of locations in the West where I could do a circuit. Anyone, or an organization, interested in hosting a workshop should contact me by email and use the words "concrete workshop" so I don't lose it in the spam.

UPDATEJuly 7, 2008. As of this entry a very fun workshop in Salt Lake was completed yesterday. Following are the scheduled locations before me and some others may come together. Anyone that is on this general route between the scheduled workshops and is interested in hosting should email me as described above. Possible immediately in mid July: Mendocino CA and Portland OR. Seattle WA August 1-3 at www.spacetocreate.com. East to Story WY on August 19-21. Then to Chicago Botanical Gardens for one September 12-14, contact Beth Pinargote for details. Home to TN then down to Ft. Walton Beach FL in early October. If there is interest in FL I would like to find other parties that would like to host.

ACTIVE UPDATESFor information about the ongoing workshop circuit I and others will be posting images and information frequently on The Garden Art Forum.

I have been a member of The Tennessee Association of Craft Artist since 1999. The TACA Fair is always on the first full weekend in May and is the only one that I do at this time. This is because it is about 50 miles from home and convenient for carrying about a ton of stuff to Centennial Park in Nashville. Visit theTACA website to learn more about this fine organization.

A long time member of TACA and a friend is Sherri Warner Hunter. Her two recent books on working with concrete have become the definitive starting place and resource for those seeking instruction in the concrete medium for personal expression. She now does lecture tours and offers a variety of workshops. Being a Featured Artist in these books has essentially established me as the person at the top of the field concerning wet carved concrete. So get busy, work hard and come and get me.

Recently I have connected to The Garden Art Forum. It is a diverse website for concrete enthusiasts and place where garden do-it-yourselfers can meet, share and discuss their projects. This is a great site and it's growing fast. I'm privileged to be included as a featured artist.

Another TACA artist that is working with concrete is Kem Alexander. She is a delightful person and her work has developed in many unique ways. She is also featured in the Hunter books.

Check out my friend Bill Brimm's site with his work and his book about Peru.
