These pieces were made with spent sand blasting sand which was sifted to remove paint chips and debris. The photograph below was taken in 2005 and shows that the piece has weathered well. With the abscence of quarried sand in the area I chose to experiment with this type of sand. I figured that the sand would have been shattered and become angular during blasting. Also, my only other choice was river or beach sand that I knew would not last. It's nice to have confirmation on at least one piece of the many I made at that time.
